Thursday, December 26th – Saturday, December 28th 2024 World Tour Days 54- 56 As usual it was an early departure from our camp at Etosha National Park. At noon we stopped at the Petrified Forest Park. There we had a guided tour along 800m of trail. It was explained how the trees came to the area, which was via flooding, and how they got petrified. The first petrified pine tree we saw was 1.4 m wide and 10 m long from just what could be measured from the surface. They are not allowed to dig them up so total size…

Sunday, December 22nd – Wednesday, December 25th 2024 World Tour Days 50 – 53 We left Maun, Botswana and crossed into our next country: Namibia. It was approximately 7 hours of driving to make it to Divindu, where we spent the night. That evening we did a river boat cruise where we saw hippos and many monkeys drinking from the river bank, including mothers with their babies on them. The following day was a 9 hour drive to get to the edge of Etosha National Park. We spent the night here before making our way to the park itself. The…

Thursday, December 19th – Saturday, December 21st 2024 World Tour Days 47 – 49 We had an early morning 6:00am departure for a big drive day. Along the highway were large herds of zebra who were migrating from the Okavango Delta area (where we were heading). They could move away from the delta due to it being the short rainy season, meaning grass was now available in other areas. At 11:00am we grabbed our smaller backpacks and jumped in the open air safari jeeps which would take us to our campsite for the next several nights. On the drive we…

Tuesday, December 17th – Wednesday, December 18th 2024 World Tour Days 45- 46 We arrived in Botswana in the afternoon and went straight into an activity. We had a river cruise in Chobe National Park on the Chobe River. We saw hippos, fish eagles, crocodiles, and enjoyed the scenic landscapes. We learned hippos can run up to 60km per hour on land, but we also have heard other statistics on that from other activities so hard to know which is true. It was only a 2.5 hour drive day and we spent the night in Kasane, Botswana. That evening there…
