Wednesday, June 18th – Saturday, June 21st, 2025 World Tour Days 228 – 231 Much like our previous travel days in China, our day started and ended with high speed trains. After traveling over 10 hours on 2 trains we made it all the way from Beijing to Zhangye. We were completely exhausted after arriving. The town seemed like a ghost town with the entire area around our hotel being shut down. Each store was closed and cleared out. Sunday, June 8th – Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 World Tour Days 218 – 227 Day 1: Reunion From Xi’An North train station we travelled 5.5 hours to get to Beijing where our good friend, Liam, was already waiting for us in the hotel. He flew all the way from the USA to explore the city with us. We were thrilled to have company other than each other for over a week. Thursday, June 5th – Saturday, June 7th, 2025 World Tour Days 215 – 217 Day 1 Meeting Old Friends Our morning started with another journey to the train station, this time to catch a direct train 4 hours to Xi’An. Waiting for us in the city were our two friends, Benny and Carmel, who we met on our overland truck in Africa about 6 months prior. Sunday, June 1st – Wednesday, June 4th, 2025 World Tour Days 211 – 214 As it was the holiday weekend, the train we had tried to reserve was fully booked. It was a nice excuse to have our first domestic flight experience to Chengdu. It made me realize I could have booked more flights as it was cheaper and faster than the train. The airport was beautiful with views of the surrounding mountains from the large windows lining the gates.
